Body Hair Transplant BHT

Body Hair Transplant BHT

During the transplantation, head hair is the one that is used most often. However sometimes patient lacks enough hair on his or her head and it becomes difficult to achieve an intended result. In such situations the body hair transplantation becomes a viable option. It’s due to the fact, that body hair is very similar to head hair, both in structure and in quality. Hairs may be taken off the legs area, the arms, the stomach, the chest, the back, the armpits or even the face. Under certain circumstances, even the beard hairs may be employed in transplantations.

For some patients, body hair can become the source of several thousand graft units. This large donor area can be used to achieve higher hair density, used to fill bigger balding areas or performing corrections. But it’s important to note, that the BHT type of a transplantation is possible exclusively for patients with a considerable amount of body hair…

Body hair is then removed, using the FUE technique, leaving no linear scars. Body hair units are then implanted in the same way as grafts of head hair.

Which patients are suitable for body hair transplants?

To describe it shortly, note that donor hair most usually is taken from the tonsure, i.e. from the back or side of the head. Patients with insufficient hair in the donor area are unsuitable for this type of transplantation operation. The reasons of that may vary from natural hair loss or result from previous hair transplants, which makes any further extraction of donor hairs from the head meaningless.

If the unsuitable donor hair is used in a BHT procedure, the results are not likely to be good. It’s like that, because these can only compensate hair loss to a minor extent. Moreover any resulting scars will be more visible.

Criteria for assessing BHT suitability: the Torso Donor-Index

Dr. True uses a special technique to determine the feasibility of a BHT – the Torso Donor Index, or TDI for short. Used for assessing the donor area for a body hair transplant, the TDI combines and analyzes these 5 criteria:

  • Hair density must be above 40 FUs per cm²
  • Similarity between the body and head hair should be high
  • The number of FUs with 2 – 3 hair follicles
  • The size of the donor area
  • The length of the body hair

What our patients say

I’ve always been afraid of what an effect aging will have on my hair… Eventually, starting at the age of 35 I began to lose my hair on the forehead…Now I feel myself young again, all thanks to this clinic’s budget prices and an awesome quality!

Since I’ve retired, my balding process became a real grievance for me (as a 60’s kid I’ve always used to have long hairdos)… But as soon as my friend recommended me this hair renewal clinic, I signed up for the treatment and after that I’ve never felt happier!

It’s true, that men do not take balding lightly… For me this was twice as true, as I began to lose head hair very early on, in my late 20s… I’m not sure how it would’ve end up, if it was not for this brilliant clinic’s Follicular Unit Extraction therapy! Thanks!
